Description
The Holiday avocado (Persea americana) is a compact, dwarf-to-semidwarf Guatemalan Type-A avocado variety released by the UC breeding program in 2001. Reaches about 12 to 18 feet tall and 10 feet wide at maturity, featuring a sprawling, weeping, or horizontal-leaning growth habit that often requires staking. Large, pear-shaped (pyriform) green fruit weighing roughly 18 to 24 ounces with a thick, non-blackening green skin. Rich, dense, buttery texture with a strong, nutty flavor. Named “Holiday” because it typically ripens from Labor Day through New Year’s Day (September–January), with strong on-tree holding quality.
